Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist
Welcome!
WHO of us today is not familiar with the term Identity Theft? We hear about it everywhere -- in the news, on TV, in countless newspapers and magazines. Chances are that if we have not been a victim of identity theft ourselves, we know someone who has -- a family member, a co-worker, a neighbor.
If you type the words "Identity Theft" into an Internet search engine, you will get literally hundreds of thousands of results for websites devoted to this problem, many of which are companies offering what they believe to be a solution to this growing crime. I don't know how you feel, but I think it's pretty overwhelming, especially when there are so many options, opinions and companies to consider. And, honestly, how many of us really have the time, energy or even the desire to research all of them?
As a Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist, I have learned that identity theft is a crime that cannot be entirely prevented. Despite what you may have been told or heard, there is no individual, company, product or service that can 100% guarantee to prevent identity theft from happening to you. Even when we are proactive and do everything in our ability to protect our personal information, the fact remains that our private information exists in countless sources and contained within thousands of databases. And it is completely out of our control to know everyone who has access to it.
It is also a common public misconception that identity theft is only limited to credit card or financial fraud and that there are no real victims. In truth, financial identity theft makes up only a small percentage of all identity thefts and is not a victimless crime (I discuss this in my Risk Management section).
I created this site for two reasons: 1) to provide you with some proactive identity theft risk management strategies that you can do yourself, and 2) to suggest a simple yet reliable, non-fear-based plan that you can put in place for you and your family.
I fully believe that not all identity theft protection plans are equally efficient. While some of them take very aggressive approaches to identity theft deterrence, they fall short when it comes to helping you when you need it the most -- if you do become a victim of identity theft. The plan in place I suggest will help you during all three stages of identity theft -- before an identity theft crisis arises and, in my opinion most importantly, during and after it happens.
I hope you will take some time to explore my website and consider carefully how you will protect yourself and your loved ones. And please visit often as I will be updating the site with fresh content on a regular basis.
